These no-bake bars are a great way for kids or yourself to enjoy breakfast or a pick me up snack in the afternoon. This childhood snack is a little different compare to what you’re used to when it comes to rice krispy treats, it’s a combination of rolled oats, dried cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, dried apricots, and unblanched almonds.

Yield: 20 or depending how you slice it

1 cup quick-cooking  rolled oats            3/4 cup raisins

1/4 cup butter                                            1/3 cup sunflower seeds

1 bag of large marshmallows                  1/3 cup chopped dried apricots

1 tsp. vanilla                                              1/4 cup chopped unblanced almonds

5 cups crisp rice cereal

1. Preheated  oven @ 350 F. Sprinkle oats evenly in pan, stirring, occasionally, until lightly toasted, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and cool for 15 minutes. Spray a 13 x 9 x 2″ rectangular pan, set aside.

2. In a large saucepan, combine the butter with the marshmallows, cook over low heat, stirring often, until melted and smooth. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, then stir in oats, cereal, raisins, sunflower seeds, apricots, and almonds, mixing well. Spray a rubber spatula or your hands evenly press mixture into prepared pan. Let cool for 1 hour, cut into bars.   Serve and Enjoy!


If you prefer a nut-free bar, omit the almonds

Replace raisins for cranberries

Replace almonds with another type of nut

Replace sunflower seeds with pumpkin seeds

Replace apricot for dried apples
