First, you’ll need a batch of your favorite Sugar Cookie Recipe or Chocolate Sugar Recipe. Any cookie cutter shape from Wilton, Karen’s Cookies, the Cookie Cutter Company, or your favorite cookie supply shop.
Make sure you always bring the butter, eggs, liquids (milk, juice, or water) sour cream or yogurt to room temperature. This take about 30-45 minutes.
Procedure for making cookie dough
Step 1: Creaming butter and sugar together.
Step 2: Add eggs and vanilla
Step 3: After the step 2, STOP the mixer and scrape down the sides. Then add your dry ingredients
Step 4: If the recipe the recipe requires you to chill the dough then proceed.
Step 5: Dust your work surface with flour, so it will be easy to roll out the dough.
Step 6: Roll out the dough with a rolling-pin. I prefer to use a rolling-pin cover, so that the dough doesn’t stick. Will the rolling-pin cover leave marks? No.
Step 7: Dip your cookie cutter in flour 1st, gently rock the cutter back and forth to cut, dip your spatula in flour, slide the spatula under the dough & lift gently, place on cookie sheet.
If you still have some flour on top, just brush it off, I normally with set my cookies on the baking tray 4 x 3 or 4 x 4, but it’s depending how big your sheet is & the size of the cookies.
Step 8: After baking your cookies follow the steps for cooling and place them on a wire rack. Place them in a clear container, store them in a dry cool place overnight.
A rolling-pin cover can be purchase at any store that sell kitchen accessories. Pastry brushes can be brought at any cake supply store I actually brought my brushes @ a hardware store for under 1.50 I use from 1″- 1 1/2 “. Look for insulated cookie sheets and 1/2 sheet pans they last a lifetime.
Once your cookies are baked, prepare a batch of Royal Icing. – HAPPY BAKING!
